How to Get Good Instagram Reels Music with a Business Account

March 28, 20263 min read

Everyone is talking about Instagram Reels and the massive reach this content type can generate! Catchy tunes, cute dances, pointing fingers and bite-sized tips are taking Instagram by storm.

But creating an Instagram Reel can be a little confusing when you start out. Particularly the music side of things.

If you're using a business account on Instagram you (generally) won't have access to use music from recording artists – the music that has the name of the artist and song in the title. This is because of copyright licensing restrictions.

The good news? There are a few workarounds that actually work. Here are three options to try.

Option 1: Use "Original Music" from Other Users

When someone (a personal or creator account) uploads a popular song and names it "Original Music", you can save and use that audio even with a business account. The key is to look for song titles that include the words "Original Music" — these are often the songs we know and love, just uploaded by an individual rather than the record label.

To use Original Music:

  • When you find a Reel with audio you like, tap the audio name at the bottom of the screen

  • Look for tracks labelled "Original Music" in the search results

  • Tap the bookmark icon to save it for later, or tap "Use Audio" to create your Reel with it right away

  • To find saved audio: tap the camera icon to create a Reel, then tap "Audio" on the left to see all your saved tracks. Alternatively, go to your profile, tap the three lines, then "Saved" — your audio will be in a folder there

  • One thing to be aware of: if the original uploader's audio gets taken down by Instagram, your Reel may be muted retrospectively. It's a risk worth knowing about!

Option 2: Change Your Category to "Entrepreneur" (or "Personal Blog")

This is the most popular workaround and it still works! By changing your Instagram profile category to "Entrepreneur" or "Personal Blog", you can unlock access to the full music library — including all the popular, trending songs.

The best part? You can hide your category label so it doesn't show on your profile. Here's how:

  • Go to your Instagram profile and tap Edit Profile

  • Tap Category and search for "Entrepreneur" or "Personal Blog"

  • Select it and toggle off "Display on Profile" so your category stays hidden

  • Save your changes — you should now have access to the full music library when creating Reels!

Option 3: Switch to a Creator Account

If you're open to it, switching from a Business account to a Creator account gives you full access to the music library — no workarounds needed. Creator accounts still have access to insights and professional features, so it's worth considering if music is really important to your Reels strategy.

To switch: go to Settings and Privacy > Account Type and Tools > Switch to Creator Account.
